"Answer me, did you finish the question or not?" Lu Xiaobei held a book in her left hand, while her head was propped up using her right, sitting contentedly on one side of the table as she asked the squirming Xiaoya seated at the other end.
"Yeah, but not really." Seeing the shock in Xiaoya's eyes, Lu Xiaobei explained: "The winter camp was also hosted in this area last year, but we didn't stay in the same building we are on now, we were put up in a place in a town a bit further away. That town was even smaller than this one, so they didn't have a fair. Which was why we had come over to this one back then."
Hearing those words, Xiaoya excitedly replied, "Okay! I can't wait!"
Seeming to know what Xiaoya was thinking, Lu Xiaobei asked her, "Do you want to go ride the Ferris wheel?"
Xiaoya: "Uh... Um... I uh... started doing it just now."

"You're the one who asked me to teach you how to solve it." Lu Xiaobei then continued, "Yet now that I'm with you, you can't seem to concentrate properly."
"Answer me, did you finish the question or not?" Lu Xiaobei held a book in her left hand, while her head was propped up using her right, sitting contentedly on one side of the table as she asked the squirming Xiaoya seated at the other end.
"It's just... It's just that when we do it together, you don't do anything but concentrate on looking at me." Xiaoya said in her defence before adding in a whisper, "If you look at me like that, how am I supposed to stay calm?"
Seeming to know what Xiaoya was thinking, Lu Xiaobei asked her, "Do you want to go ride the Ferris wheel?"
"Captain, can I borrow your phone? I want to take a picture." Xiaoya asked the girl beside her.
"Answer me, did you finish the question or not?" Lu Xiaobei held a book in her left hand, while her head was propped up using her right, sitting contentedly on one side of the table as she asked the squirming Xiaoya seated at the other end.
Lu Xiaobei: "What did you just say?"
"Today is the last day, and even I want to go and sleep to." Xiaoya then continued, "But Yichen doesn't seem like the type to laze around during the daytime, though."
"But... we're too big." Xiaoya replied.
Xiang Yi then chimed in, "If Captain does that, she'll be a three Michelin star chef at the very least, though... if that does happen, it'll only be possible for me to eat your cooking once a month."
This sight caused Xiaoya's heart to grow a bit frantic, making her own body sway as well which resulted in their cabin to also feel like a little boat.
Lu Xiaobei: "Didn't you want me to take the teacher-training exams earlier?"
"Nothing! Nothing." Xiaoya then began working on two questions, and while doing so was unable to stop herself from asking the girl beside her, "Captain, why didn't you go to the Academic Olympiads this year?"
Seeing the little radish heads lined up in front as well as behind her, Xiaoya felt a bit embarrassed. But the thing was, after she had graduated elementary school, her parents had never taken her to an amusement park again. So when she first laid eyes on that little Ferris wheel in the distance, Xiaoya just felt a little excited.
"Because I don't need to." Lu Xiaobei replied simply, then added, "My mother said that as long as my College Entrance Exams go smoothly, I can just attend university here, in the country. But if things don't go well, I'll just have to go over there."
Xiaoya felt something touch her heart when she heard this, and a flush emerged on her face. It was because of her, because of her that Captain cared for her like this. She really was someone too blessed to see their blessings.

"Really? I've never been to a fair before." Xiaoya said then asked, "But will Miss Xu agree?"
"Really? I've never been to a fair before." Xiaoya said then asked, "But will Miss Xu agree?"
The Ferris wheel had stopped halfway in the air, and had yet to have reached its highest point. So while it stopped, Xiaoya decided to take a bite of her cotton candy, but right at that moment, the ride suddenly started rising again, along with the swaying. Compared to before, the swaying now was much more violent, and so caused a piece of the cotton candy to stick on Xiaoya's cheek.
Xiaoya: ...
Xiang Yi then chimed in, "If Captain does that, she'll be a three Michelin star chef at the very least, though... if that does happen, it'll only be possible for me to eat your cooking once a month."
Lu Xiaobei: "Holland."
"No. I want to take a pic of the view." Xiaoya replied, then took a few pictures of the street below before sticking the phone in her pocket in case she also wanted to take more pictures later.
"Well, I don't really like doing science either, but it's a good option to chose for getting into a university. It's even great for getting a job after you graduate too." Xiaoya said in response.

Xiaoya's pen stopped when those words met her ears, her then turning to look at Lu Xiaobei, her expression wooden.
Xiaoya lifted her head to look at her, caution in her tone as she asked, "So um... where is your mother right now?"
"That's so far away." Xiaoya let out a sigh, then continued, "So are you going to go over there, Captain? Are we ever going to see each other again?"
Xiaoya nodded, understanding, then soon came to notce something that was built behind a big tree. The sight made her tug Lu Xiaobei's sleeve as she went on to ask, "Captain, they also have a Ferris wheel? Wait, is that really a Ferris wheel?"
In Xiaoya's bowl there were only two pieces of beef, however, two pieces Lu Xiaobei had chosen just for her under the name of what the older girl beautifully described as "balanced nutrition". Because of this, Xiaoya, as if she were young maiden born of nobility in ancient times, carefully and slowly chewed every bite to the point where not even a drop of the sauce was allowed to go to waste. "Captain, with your cooking skills, if you don't open up a restaurant it will be a loss to the Chinese people as a whole."
Lu Xiaobei helped her pick up some of the bowls, the gave the other girl a word of advice, "It'd be better for you two to go to bed early tonight. The sound proofing in the building is not that good." Hearing this, Xiang Yi's movement froze, with no words leaving her.
Lu Xiaobei: "No, I came here last year."
This sight caused Xiaoya's heart to grow a bit frantic, making her own body sway as well which resulted in their cabin to also feel like a little boat.
Closing the book in front of her, Lu Xiaobei asked, "Why? Do you want me to stay?"

Compared to before, the swaying now was much more violent, and so caused a piece of the cotton candy to stick on Xiaoya's cheek.
"I already asked her." Lu Xiaobei then continued, "We'll go there on our own, but since Mr. Qi and the others went their earlier to buy some things at the fair, we'll be coming back with them in the evening."
"Yeah, but not really." Seeing the shock in Xiaoya's eyes, Lu Xiaobei explained: "The winter camp was also hosted in this area last year, but we didn't stay in the same building we are on now, we were put up in a place in a town a bit further away. Xiaoya shook her head, replying, "No. Captain is nothing like me, so it's a guarantee your future will be one way more important compared to someone like me." Besides, there's no way Captain will stay just because I told her to do so.
A tender piece of beef entered a mouth, the feel of the meat on their tongue light and smooth, the taste juicy and mellow, while the owner of that mouth, Xiang Yi, felt as though her eyes were about to shed tears, "The beef today is so good! Captain, I want to marry you!"
"You should worry more about yourself. Instead of saying your understanding of the key concepts and terms is mixed up, it's better to say that you just don't have the fundamental formulas and etcetera memorised." Lu Xiaobei reopened the book as she continued, "Last time you said you wanted to join the science classes when the classes are divided, right? I think you should let that idea go."
To which Lu Xiaobei replied: "But everyone's situation isn't the same, Xiaoya. Plus, if you choose to pursue Liberal Arts in university, you will be outstanding."

"It's our turn now." Xiaoya paid her money first and entered the Ferris wheel cabin. The cabin was indeed a small one, and even though two adults could fit, if both their knees opened properly they would end up touching for sure.
Xiaoya shook her head, replying, "No. Captain is nothing like me, so it's a guarantee your future will be one way more important compared to someone like me." Besides, there's no way Captain will stay just because I told her to do so.
"She's taking a nap. Isn't there only half day classes from the first day of the lunar month to the third? I'll just pack some food to take back for her later." Xiang Yi replied.
Lu Xiaobei's glance swept to the ungrateful little girl beside her, saying, "Well, the only reason I care this much is because it's you, understand?"
Upon hearing, Lu Xiaobei pulled out her phone and handed to her, asking, "Do you want to take a selfie?"
Lu Xiaobei: "No, I came here last year."
To which Lu Xiaobei replied: "But everyone's situation isn't the same, Xiaoya. Plus, if you choose to pursue Liberal Arts in university, you will be outstanding."
3 Michelin stars is the highest award any restaurant can receive. Even getting one is a feat. Categorisation is as follows:- 1 Star: A very good restaurant in its category || 2 Stars: Excellent cooking, worth a detour || 3 Stars: Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey. When she heard this, Xiaoya's face grew a bit hot. Never in her life had anyone ever said to her she could become someone outstanding.
Lunchtime.
Xiaoya's gaze landed on the mini merry-go-round erected on the roadside, seeing all sorts of ponies on it, before saying regretfully, "Too bad it's only for little kids."
When she heard this, Xiaoya's face grew a bit hot. Never in her life had anyone ever said to her she could become someone outstanding.
While packing up some food, Xiang Yi replied: "Nope. I'm going to go back and keep Yichen company."
The Ferris wheel soon slowly began its ascent, beckoning faces filled of innocent smiles from the children, along with jovial shouts from the vendors and an outpouring of jubilation from the pedestrians below. It was not solely due to this increase in the distance between them that made it all seem unreal, but also because Xiaoya was looking down from such a high altitude that she felt it all the more.
The self-study period flew by quickly after this exchange. Xiaoya completed the questions she could solve, while placing the ones she couldn't work out over on Lu Xiaobei's table, where Lu Xiaobei, taking no more than a couple looks, then used her finger to point to the picture while explaining it to her.

Xiaoya: "Captain, you explain it a lot better than the teachers at school. It's a pity you won't take the teacher-training exams and allow a multitude of students to benefit from it."
Xiang Yi then chimed in, "If Captain does that, she'll be a three Michelin star chef at the very least, though... if that does happen, it'll only be possible for me to eat your cooking once a month."

Lu Xiaobei: "That's because you don't pay attention to the teachers at school. Someone not even in the fiftieth percentile, shouldn't be leveraging complaints against a teacher's teaching methods."
A tender piece of beef entered a mouth, the feel of the meat on their tongue light and smooth, the taste juicy and mellow, while the owner of that mouth, Xiang Yi, felt as though her eyes were about to shed tears, "The beef today is so good! Captain, I want to marry you!"
Hearing this, Xiaoya felt a bit frightened, but on the outside she acted indifferently while saying, "It probably won't."

While halfway up in the air, another cabin of the Ferris wheel began swaying.
"You're the one who asked me to teach you how to solve it." Lu Xiaobei then continued, "Yet now that I'm with you, you can't seem to concentrate properly."
However, Lu Xiaobei smply grabbed her hand, pulling her towards the line for the Ferris wheel, then said, "There's room, we'll fit. If you want to go, just go."
Xiaoya's pen stopped when those words met her ears, her then turning to look at Lu Xiaobei, her expression wooden.
"Captain, can I borrow your phone? I want to take a picture." Xiaoya asked the girl beside her.
"What's wrong?" Lu Xiaobei asked her.
All of this happening while Xiaoya devoted her heart and soul into devouring the stir-fried shredded potato in front of her.
"She's taking a nap. Isn't there only half day classes from the first day of the lunar month to the third? I'll just pack some food to take back for her later." Xiang Yi replied.
Xiaoya: "Captain, you explain it a lot better than the teachers at school. It's a pity you won't take the teacher-training exams and allow a multitude of students to benefit from it."
Xiaoya: "Oh yeah... you came to the winter camp last year too. So you came here to this place where saying at last year as well, right?"
Counting the little heads still in front of them, Lu Xiaobei then told her, "After one more go-around, it'll be our turn next."
Feeling a bit driven pushed to the edge, Xiaoya replied, "Captain, recently, you've been reminding a lot of my mom."
Lu Xiaobei: "It is a Ferris wheel. Every year, when it's time for a fair, they put up a simple Ferris wheel and merry-go-round here."
On one side of the street there was an old camphor tree. That tree had a yellowish-brown trunk and yellowish-green leaves which had no intention of falling until the weather grows warmer. So currently that tree was so lush it completely obstructed the scenery that wasn't to far way. And behind that old tree, was a small Ferris wheel. This Ferris wheel was so tiny, it only had four cabins which could each seat four people at the very most. Plus, when the people inside those cabins pushed their feet down hard, it swayed so much it looked as though it was about to topple over.
"Well, I don't really like doing science either, but it's a good option to chose for getting into a university. It's even great for getting a job after you graduate too." Xiaoya said in response.
Lu Xiaobei's glance swept to the ungrateful little girl beside her, saying, "Well, the only reason I care this much is because it's you, understand?"
Xiaoya: "That's awesome! Xiang Yi, are you going to come with us too?"
Xiang Yi laughed at Xiaoya's comment, replying in turn, "It's probably because she was kept up a bit too late last night."
Hearing those words, Xiaoya excitedly replied, "Okay! I can't wait!"
Closing the book in front of her, Lu Xiaobei asked, "Why? Do you want me to stay?"

Lu Xiaobei was in the same predicament as her, and had no extra hands to help her. Plus, seeing Xiaoya like that elicited a "pfft" as she sputtered out a laugh.

While they were waiting, a peddler selling cotton came by. Xiaoya waved her hand and said she didn't want any, while Lu Xiaobei still went ahead to buy one which was pink and another which was white. She then told Xiaoya, "I didn't buy it for you. It must be really hard for them to come out and work on the third day of the new year when it's so cold out."

Under the waning glow of the setting sun, the Ferris wheel at last reached its peak.

"Really? I've never been to a fair before." Xiaoya said then asked, "But will Miss Xu agree?"
Xiaoya lifted her head to look at her, caution in her tone as she asked, "So um... where is your mother right now?"
Closing the book in front of her, Lu Xiaobei asked, "Why? Do you want me to stay?"

She then told Xiaoya, "I didn't buy it for you. It must be really hard for them to come out and work on the third day of the new year when it's so cold out."
"Answer me, did you finish the question or not?" Lu Xiaobei held a book in her left hand, while her head was propped up using her right, sitting contentedly on one side of the table as she asked the squirming Xiaoya seated at the other end.
For a while, Xiaoya was seriously torn. But inevitably, she was defeated by the beautiful meal laid out before her thus resulting in her declaring: "I want Captain to be a chef."
Xiaoya nodded, understanding, then soon came to notce something that was built behind a big tree. The sight made her tug Lu Xiaobei's sleeve as she went on to ask, "Captain, they also have a Ferris wheel? Wait, is that really a Ferris wheel?"
"I already asked her." Lu Xiaobei then continued, "We'll go there on our own, but since Mr. Qi and the others went their earlier to buy some things at the fair, we'll be coming back with them in the evening."
"Because I don't need to." Lu Xiaobei replied simply, then added, "My mother said that as long as my College Entrance Exams go smoothly, I can just attend university here, in the country. But if things don't go well, I'll just have to go over there."

Lu Xiaobei was in the same predicament as her, and had no extra hands to help her. Plus, seeing Xiaoya like that elicited a "pfft" as she sputtered out a laugh.
A tender piece of beef entered a mouth, the feel of the meat on their tongue light and smooth, the taste juicy and mellow, while the owner of that mouth, Xiang Yi, felt as though her eyes were about to shed tears, "The beef today is so good! Captain, I want to marry you!"
Lu Xiaobei then told Xiaoya, "Don't turn in yet. There's a fair that's held in the town on the third day of the new year, so I'll take you there later on."
Xiaoya: "That's awesome! Xiang Yi, are you going to come with us too?"
For a while, Xiaoya was seriously torn. But inevitably, she was defeated by the beautiful meal laid out before her thus resulting in her declaring: "I want Captain to be a chef."
While packing up some food, Xiang Yi replied: "Nope. I'm going to go back and keep Yichen company."
"You're the one who asked me to teach you how to solve it." Lu Xiaobei then continued, "Yet now that I'm with you, you can't seem to concentrate properly."
Lu Xiaobei helped her pick up some of the bowls, the gave the other girl a word of advice, "It'd be better for you two to go to bed early tonight. The sound proofing in the building is not that good." Hearing this, Xiang Yi's movement froze, with no words leaving her.

"Wow..." Xiaoya walked down the street, looking at the streams of shops of any and every kind lining both sides of the roadway with her eyes draw wide. "They even have sugar figurines here! Lu Xiaobei: "That's because you don't pay attention to the teachers at school. Someone not even in the fiftieth percentile, shouldn't be leveraging complaints against a teacher's teaching methods."
Xiaoya: "Oh yeah... you came to the winter camp last year too. So you came here to this place where saying at last year as well, right?"

Lu Xiaobei had one hand on the hand rail, while the other held her own cotton candy as she asked, "Are you scared it's going to fall?"
Lu Xiaobei: "What did you just say?"
"Today is the last day, and even I want to go and sleep to." Xiaoya then continued, "But Yichen doesn't seem like the type to laze around during the daytime, though."

Lunchtime.
Xiaoya lifted her head to look at her, caution in her tone as she asked, "So um... where is your mother right now?"
Lu Xiaobei: "It is a Ferris wheel. Every year, when it's time for a fair, they put up a simple Ferris wheel and merry-go-round here."
"Nothing! Nothing." Xiaoya then began working on two questions, and while doing so was unable to stop herself from asking the girl beside her, "Captain, why didn't you go to the Academic Olympiads this year?"

Feeling a bit driven pushed to the edge, Xiaoya replied, "Captain, recently, you've been reminding a lot of my mom."
Xiaoya: "Uh... Um... I uh... started doing it just now."
"What's wrong?" Lu Xiaobei asked her.
Seeming to know what Xiaoya was thinking, Lu Xiaobei asked her, "Do you want to go ride the Ferris wheel?"
"Well, I don't really like doing science either, but it's a good option to chose for getting into a university. It's even great for getting a job after you graduate too." Xiaoya said in response.
"It's our turn now." Xiaoya paid her money first and entered the Ferris wheel cabin. The cabin was indeed a small one, and even though two adults could fit, if both their knees opened properly they would end up touching for sure.
"That's so far away." Xiaoya let out a sigh, then continued, "So are you going to go over there, Captain? Are we ever going to see each other again?"

Lu Xiaobei was in the same predicament as her, and had no extra hands to help her. Plus, seeing Xiaoya like that elicited a "pfft" as she sputtered out a laugh.

"She's taking a nap. Isn't there only half day classes from the first day of the lunar month to the third? I'll just pack some food to take back for her later." Xiang Yi replied.

Hearing those words, Xiaoya excitedly replied, "Okay! I can't wait!"
Lu Xiaobei then told Xiaoya, "Don't turn in yet. There's a fair that's held in the town on the third day of the new year, so I'll take you there later on."

Lu Xiaobei's glance swept to the ungrateful little girl beside her, saying, "Well, the only reason I care this much is because it's you, understand?"

"No. I want to take a pic of the view." Xiaoya replied, then took a few pictures of the street below before sticking the phone in her pocket in case she also wanted to take more pictures later.
"She's taking a nap. Isn't there only half day classes from the first day of the lunar month to the third? I'll just pack some food to take back for her later." Xiang Yi replied.
Lu Xiaobei: "It is a Ferris wheel. Every year, when it's time for a fair, they put up a simple Ferris wheel and merry-go-round here."
Unexpectedly, there was a smile carried in Lu Xiaobei's eyes, its brightness and beauty incomparable to the crisp breeze and evening glow around them. Lu Xiaobei then leaned her body forward slightly, delivering a peck on Xiaoya's cheek, and took the piece of stuck cotton candy away.
While packing up some food, Xiang Yi replied: "Nope. I'm going to go back and keep Yichen company."
Hearing this, Xiaoya felt a bit frightened, but on the outside she acted indifferently while saying, "It probably won't."
Hearing those words, Xiaoya excitedly replied, "Okay! I can't wait!"
"It's our turn now." Xiaoya paid her money first and entered the Ferris wheel cabin. The cabin was indeed a small one, and even though two adults could fit, if both their knees opened properly they would end up touching for sure.
