Xiaoya bolted towards Mo Yichen excitedly. "Yichen! You're here! I brought you cake from the dessert shop near NU. I said I'd treat you the next time you came last time, didn't I?"

Lu Xiaobei: "Yes. She's making excuses for Xiang Yi. Anyhow, this is nothing you should concern yourself about. It's not your business."

When Xiaoya got over to Mo Yichen, she noticed how loose the other girl's short was and asked in shock, "Why are you so thin? And your complexion doesn't look so good either. You already had a nice figure, so there was no reason for you to lose any weight, you know?"

For a long time, Xiaoya said nothing. Looking at Mo Yichen's calm demeanour, she tentatively asked, "Are you going to break up with Xiang Yi?"

After washing up, Xiaoya called Lu Xiaobei. She told her all about the situation between Mo Yichen ad Xiang Yi, then asked her, "Tell me, what should I do to get Yichen to break things off? When it comes to cheating, it'll happen either zero times, or countless times. What's more, from what Yichen told me, after Xiang Yi came back to Nancheng, she didn't even show an ounce of guilt."

Mo YiChen continued: "When Xiang Yi was in her third year of high school, because of the Art College Examinations, she spent most of that year in Shanghai. After she got to Shanghai, she lived at in a large bungalow her teacher had rented for all the students as well as another teacher to live, and that girl was there too. She wanted to apply to college as a Music Education major. Her exam had a piano performance so she practised in the music room every single day. She also told me that every time she went to the studio, next to the piano stool, where the sunlight could slowly creep in and shine, was a cup of milk tea and a piece of cake was somebody rested there. She said it was a hard to describe the feeling, but she thought it was just about the most romantic thing she ever witnessed in her life."

"I honestly didn't think much of it back then. I refused her clearly, but I didn't block her. But as a result, after I went a day without checking my Weibo, I opened it to find 99+ messages left by her. I gave her my phone number, and that day she had cried miserably and told me many things about her and Xiang Yi." Mo Yichen's voice was indifferent as she spoke. It was none of the things she was saying had anything to do with her at all.

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

Hearing her, Mo Yichen smiled before replying, "It's nothing."

But Lu Xiaobei confirmed, "Yes, really."

So, uncomfortably, she went on to say, "I know they when they get back together, it is very likely their relationship won't be any better. But all I can do is helplessly look on from the sidelines."

Mo Yichen

But, for some reason, Xiaoya felt that smile her friend wore was a bit frail. So in a no nonsense manner, Xiaoya then asked, "There's something wrong, isn't there? Is it your family, or... Xiang Yi?"

But never did she imagine Mo Yichen would give such a vague response.

Xiaoya was doubtful. "Really?"

The little love (Xiao-ai) also mulled it over for a moment. It was better to destroy ten temples than to have a hand in destroying someone's marriage. So how could she persuade Yichen to do such a thing when the girl hadn't even thought it over properly herself?

This answer was one Xiaoya never expected. She thought that according to Mo Yichen's character, she had either not believed the girl and would confront Xiang Yi; or she believed the girl and after having enough evidence of Xiang Yi come out, she would break up with her directly.

"So Xiang Yi really had her legs straddling two boats? Did you ever find out why she cut ties with that girl?" Xiaoya questioned.

So, uncomfortably, she went on to say, "I know they when they get back together, it is very likely their relationship won't be any better. But all I can do is helplessly look on from the sidelines."

Xiaoya bolted towards Mo Yichen excitedly. "Yichen! You're here! I brought you cake from the dessert shop near NU. I said I'd treat you the next time you came last time, didn't I?"

Mo Yichen and Xiaoya strolled down the street of the college town. Apart from the occasional car speeding past them, on that road, only their footsteps and rustle of wind blown leaves could be heard.

Lu Xiaobei was right, but her extremely duck-like stubborn mouth would never part lips to make her admit it.

Xiaoya: "How could it not be my business!!! I know Xiang Yi too, and Yichen is my friend!!! If we don't stop them from heading to that cliff now, won't both be even sadder in the future???"

Later that night, Xiaoya returned to her dorm at NU where there was only one girl sitting at her desk using the computer. The two had recently gotten to know of the other so they were still a bit unfamiliar with each other, so after introducing themselves once more, they went on to do their own things. Registration would last for a couple more days, and there was about two more girls who were supposed enter that dorm room.

Xiaoya felt her eyes moisten, the words she was hearing were just too cruel.

Xiaoya: "What if that girl is a scammer? What if everything she said was a lie?!"

Mo Yichen: "I don't know either, but I think there's something wrong."

Xiaoya's thoughts were a mess so she opened her drawer and pulled out a postcard, with everything that happened today she wanted to write them all down, along with her concerns for the future. By the time she was done, the entire postcard was filled with densely packed words, the only space left was just enough for a stamp and the card's address. Such a postcard was not suitable for the PC (postcard exchange service), so she signed up for a domestic delivery app and sent her card to someone with the ID 'Female Hobbies?'.

Xiaoya: "I'm doing this for her sake, so why would Yichen blame me?"

But Xiaoya then asked her, "In the future, are we going to cheat too?"

When they have conflicting opinions, Lu Xiaobei never argued with Xiaoya. Otherwise, her blunt way of speaking would result in Xiaoya crying and it would be her fault. While this would lead Xiaoya o wrongly think that she had won their debate despite being wrong.

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

Mo Yichen: "She also told me she had a boyfriend back then. He was a really good person, according to her, and she really believed she liked him. But after meeting Xiang Yi, it seems she finally found what real love felt like. She did her best to find imaginary faults in him, and it was something she did without realising it herself. At least not until he apologised to her, and said he was the one to blame. Which was when she realised she wanted to break up with him, her heart had changed."

Lu Xiaobei was right, but her extremely duck-like stubborn mouth would never part lips to make her admit it.

To which Mo Yichen replied, "It was something that happened a long time ago, but I got a call about it recently. It was from a old classmate of Xiang Yi's who she used to go to school with. The girl said she and Xiang Yi got along really well but the two had a falling out and Xiang Yi stopped talking to her. She was hoping I could help her get in contact with Xiang Yi again.

Xiaoya had a strange feeling about this matter, prompting her to ask, "Does that girl know about your relationship with Xiang Yi, by chance?"

"I still haven't told her," Mo Yichen replied simply.

Mo Yichen thought it over for a moment, but she shook her head and responded, "There's no reason she would know."

Later that night, Xiaoya returned to her dorm at NU where there was only one girl sitting at her desk using the computer. The two had recently gotten to know of the other so they were still a bit unfamiliar with each other, so after introducing themselves once more, they went on to do their own things. Xiaoya felt her eyes moisten, the words she was hearing were just too cruel.

Xiaoya then asked cautiously, "Did something happen?"

Xiaoya: "Did you tell Xiang Yi about it?"

"I asked her why she only thought of trying to find her now when a whole year had passed. And she cried a whole lot after I asked her that, then she said she did get into contact with Xiang Yi at that time. She had used a lot of people's phones to call her but she only got through once. When Xiang Yi answered, she told her they were over and then she changed her number again. She said she had no way to get in touch with her, there was nothing she could do. She even thought of letting everything go, too. She says she even thought she had, but then she started seeing Xiang Yi in her dreams over and over, realising she had missed her."

Xiaoya honestly didn't care if the person who got it understood her ramblings or not, she only needed to complain to Lu Xiaobei once, and write everything out once. And with that alone, her mood felt much better.

Mo Yichen: "I don't know either, but I think there's something wrong."

Xiaoya: "Did you tell Xiang Yi about it?"

Mo Yichen: "I don't know either, but I think there's something wrong."

Xiaoya was doubtful. "Really?"

Mo Yichen: "No. Right now I wished I had told her about it back then, it would've been better. That girl said she had seem Xiang Yi on my Weibo and figured she and I were good friends. She wanted to ask me for any other way to contact Xiang Yi, but I didn;t give her any. Back then I figured if Xiang Yi was so determined to cut ties with her that must've been a good reason."

Xiaoya: "Okay, then. I'm letting you go first today." After saying that, Xiaoya hung up.

Lu Xiaobei sat there with a darkened questioning face, thinking: How is it that Xiang Yi does something wrong, yet I'm getting blamed.

"She kept taking about a lot of things after that. She probably saw me as someone she could dump all her secrets in safely, or maybe I was just a recorder that could help transmit her feelings to Xiang Yi."

Right then, Lu Xiaobei realised she couldn't get out of this even if she jumped in the Yellow River. "I'll only discuss the facts."

Xiaoya felt her eyes moisten, the words she was hearing were just too cruel.

Both Xiang Yi and that girl, they were just too cruel.

She wasn't thinking and had posted some corny inspirational quotes to her timeline, but upon a second look she realized they were all about love, about being in a relationship and... they were all sappy and sweet. Her ex-boyfriend had seen them, and he... he lost himself for a moment while driving and crashed his car. After his accident, she found out their breakup had dealt him a big blow. So his friends had called her and asked her to go see him in the hospital, but Xiang Yi told her that if she went to visit him they were through. She though Xiang Yi was just jealous, and there hadn't been anything going on between her and her ex. So she figured she'd go there and when she came back she would coax Xiang Yi and everything would be good. She went to visit her ex at noon the next day and didn't return until that evening. But it was only after she got back that she found out it was the day Xiang Yi went do her exams, and after that is when she realised Xiang Yi had blocked her.

But to this Mo Yichen slowly replied, "That's unlikely. She seems to know Xiang Yi quite well. There were a lot of really small habits that only someone close to her would know. Plus, for a long time now, I kept getting the feeling there was something Xiang Yi was hiding from me, too."

Xiaoya: "Did you tell Xiang Yi about it?"

"I'm just thinking it over some more. Xiang Yi's mother is really good to me, and I can't really say anything about us breaking up." Mo Yichen then continued, "But, Xiaoya, I'd really like to thank you for today. Getting everything off my chest really help me feel much better."

"So Xiang Yi really had her legs straddling two boats? Did you ever find out why she cut ties with that girl?" Xiaoya questioned.

Xiaoya felt her eyes moisten, the words she was hearing were just too cruel.

Xiaoya: "But if what she said is true, does that mean you're going to forgive Xiang Yi?" Even though Xiaoya had met Xiang Yi and Mo Yichen at the same time, she undoubtedly had a closer relationship with Mo Yichen, and in a situation like this, Xiang Yi was the one who did wrong.

The little love (Xiao-ai) also mulled it over for a moment. It was better to destroy ten temples than to have a hand in destroying someone's marriage. So how could she persuade Yichen to do such a thing when the girl hadn't even thought it over properly herself?

"I did ask her," Mo Yichen replied, "but that girl told me she had no idea either. She didn't even know if they were dating. She said back then Xiang Yi never called her her girlfriend, and she had never introduced her to her friends. But they did everything that couples would do together. They ate together, skipped classes together, went shopping together, saw movies together. She thought that since she was a girl, it wouldn't be good for them to act all lovey-dovey in public. So, apart from themselves, no one else knew they were together.

Xiaoya: "I'm doing this for her sake, so why would Yichen blame me?"

"I then asked her why it was Xiang Yi had stopped talking to her, then. And she said it was because of something that happened when she was at her happiest. But Lu Xiaobei did not give a direct answer to Xiaoya's question, instead saying, "How about you tell me what was the last thing Yichen said to you before you parted ways?"

This answer was one Xiaoya never expected. She thought that according to Mo Yichen's character, she had either not believed the girl and would confront Xiang Yi; or she believed the girl and after having enough evidence of Xiang Yi come out, she would break up with her directly.

Mo Yichen: "No, that's not it. I think everything she said was true."

For a long time, Xiaoya said nothing. Looking at Mo Yichen's calm demeanour, she tentatively asked, "Are you going to break up with Xiang Yi?"

Xiaoya: "Did you tell Xiang Yi about it?"

But never did she imagine Mo Yichen would give such a vague response.

For a long time, Xiaoya said nothing. Looking at Mo Yichen's calm demeanour, she tentatively asked, "Are you going to break up with Xiang Yi?"

"I'm just thinking it over some more. Xiang Yi's mother is really good to me, and I can't really say anything about us breaking up." Mo Yichen then continued, "But, Xiaoya, I'd really like to thank you for today. Getting everything off my chest really help me feel much better."

Lu Xiaobei: "This is a matter of feelings, so how can anyone be absolutely rational? If the reconcile, let alone Xiang Yi, but Mo Yichen will also blame you."

Hearing her, Mo Yichen smiled before replying, "It's nothing."

Xiaoya: "How could it not be my business!!! I know Xiang Yi too, and Yichen is my friend!!! If we don't stop them from heading to that cliff now, won't both be even sadder in the future???"

To which Mo Yichen responded simply, "I don't know."

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

But Lu Xiaobei did not give a direct answer to Xiaoya's question, instead saying, "How about you tell me what was the last thing Yichen said to you before you parted ways?"

The little love (Xiao-ai) also mulled it over for a moment. It was better to destroy ten temples than to have a hand in destroying someone's marriage. So how could she persuade Yichen to do such a thing when the girl hadn't even thought it over properly herself?

Xiaoya then asked cautiously, "Did something happen?"

This answer was one Xiaoya never expected. She thought that according to Mo Yichen's character, she had either not believed the girl and would confront Xiang Yi; or she believed the girl and after having enough evidence of Xiang Yi come out, she would break up with her directly.

To which Mo Yichen responded simply, "I don't know."

"So Xiang Yi really had her legs straddling two boats? Did you ever find out why she cut ties with that girl?" Xiaoya questioned.

Xiaoya bolted towards Mo Yichen excitedly. "Yichen! You're here! I brought you cake from the dessert shop near NU. I said I'd treat you the next time you came last time, didn't I?"

But never did she imagine Mo Yichen would give such a vague response.

Anger swelled in Xiaoya's chest as she asked, "What did Xiang Yi have to say about all this?"

Xiaoya: "Do you not believe what that girl said then?"

Lu Xiaobei sat there with a darkened questioning face, thinking: How is it that Xiang Yi does something wrong, yet I'm getting blamed.

Mo Yichen: "No, that's not it. I think everything she said was true."

But Xiaoya then asked her, "In the future, are we going to cheat too?"

Mo YiChen continued: "When Xiang Yi was in her third year of high school, because of the Art College Examinations, she spent most of that year in Shanghai. Xiaoya had a strange feeling about this matter, prompting her to ask, "Does that girl know about your relationship with Xiang Yi, by chance?"

◈◇◈

Xiaoya then asked cautiously, "Did something happen?"

"I then asked her why it was Xiang Yi had stopped talking to her, then. And she said it was because of something that happened when she was at her happiest.

The little love (Xiao-ai) also mulled it over for a moment. It was better to destroy ten temples than to have a hand in destroying someone's marriage. So how could she persuade Yichen to do such a thing when the girl hadn't even thought it over properly herself?

To which Mo Yichen responded simply, "I don't know."

Mo Yichen: "I don't know either, but I think there's something wrong."

"I'm just thinking it over some more. Xiang Yi's mother is really good to me, and I can't really say anything about us breaking up." Mo Yichen then continued, "But, Xiaoya, I'd really like to thank you for today. Getting everything off my chest really help me feel much better."

But, for some reason, Xiaoya felt that smile her friend wore was a bit frail. So in a no nonsense manner, Xiaoya then asked, "There's something wrong, isn't there? Is it your family, or... Xiang Yi?"

Xiaoya: "What if that girl is a scammer? What if everything she said was a lie?!"

Mo Yichen and Xiaoya strolled down the street of the college town. Apart from the occasional car speeding past them, on that road, only their footsteps and rustle of wind blown leaves could be heard.

"She kept taking about a lot of things after that. She probably saw me as someone she could dump all her secrets in safely, or maybe I was just a recorder that could help transmit her feelings to Xiang Yi."

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

Xiaoya bolted towards Mo Yichen excitedly. "Yichen! You're here! I brought you cake from the dessert shop near NU. I said I'd treat you the next time you came last time, didn't I?"

"She kept taking about a lot of things after that. She probably saw me as someone she could dump all her secrets in safely, or maybe I was just a recorder that could help transmit her feelings to Xiang Yi."

But Lu Xiaobei did not give a direct answer to Xiaoya's question, instead saying, "How about you tell me what was the last thing Yichen said to you before you parted ways?"

For a long time, Xiaoya said nothing. Looking at Mo Yichen's calm demeanour, she tentatively asked, "Are you going to break up with Xiang Yi?"

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

Lu Xiaobei followed Xiaoya's logic, which for some reason dragged this stuff onto her, replying bluntly, "No, never."

Lu Xiaobei was right, but her extremely duck-like stubborn mouth would never part lips to make her admit it.

Hearing her, Mo Yichen smiled before replying, "It's nothing."

Lu Xiaobei: "Yes. She's making excuses for Xiang Yi. Anyhow, this is nothing you should concern yourself about. It's not your business."

Mo YiChen continued: "When Xiang Yi was in her third year of high school, because of the Art College Examinations, she spent most of that year in Shanghai. Both Xiang Yi and that girl, they were just too cruel.

Mo Yichen: "I don't know either, but I think there's something wrong."

But Lu Xiaobei did not give a direct answer to Xiaoya's question, instead saying, "How about you tell me what was the last thing Yichen said to you before you parted ways?"

Xiaoya: "How could it not be my business!!! I know Xiang Yi too, and Yichen is my friend!!! If we don't stop them from heading to that cliff now, won't both be even sadder in the future???"

When they have conflicting opinions, Lu Xiaobei never argued with Xiaoya. Otherwise, her blunt way of speaking would result in Xiaoya crying and it would be her fault. While this would lead Xiaoya o wrongly think that she had won their debate despite being wrong.

Lu Xiaobei: "This is a matter of feelings, so how can anyone be absolutely rational? If the reconcile, let alone Xiang Yi, but Mo Yichen will also blame you."

Hearing her, Mo Yichen smiled before replying, "It's nothing."

"I still haven't told her," Mo Yichen replied simply.

"I did ask her," Mo Yichen replied, "but that girl told me she had no idea either. She didn't even know if they were dating.

Lu Xiaobei sat there with a darkened questioning face, thinking: How is it that Xiang Yi does something wrong, yet I'm getting blamed.

Mo Yichen: "No, that's not it. I think everything she said was true."

"Then are you going to help by talking to Xiang Yi?" Xiaoya then added.

Lu Xiaobei was right, but her extremely duck-like stubborn mouth would never part lips to make her admit it.

When Xiaoya got over to Mo Yichen, she noticed how loose the other girl's short was and asked in shock, "Why are you so thin? And your complexion doesn't look so good either. You already had a nice figure, so there was no reason for you to lose any weight, you know?"

Xiaoya: "Even just saying this is going to make me angry. But she said that she was still talking to Xiang Yi and I quote: 'Xiang Yi has always felt insecure for family reasons.' I really think she's going to let her off the hook. She really is, isn't she?"

Lu Xiaobei was right, but her extremely duck-like stubborn mouth would never part lips to make her admit it.

So, uncomfortably, she went on to say, "I know they when they get back together, it is very likely their relationship won't be any better. But all I can do is helplessly look on from the sidelines."

Xiaoya honestly didn't care if the person who got it understood her ramblings or not, she only needed to complain to Lu Xiaobei once, and write everything out once. And with that alone, her mood felt much better.
