Mo Yichen had found Xiang Yi at the recording studio.

Back then, Mo Yichen believed the words Xiang Yi spoke on those recordings were all meant for here.

She had fallen asleep on the mix table, which had left imprints of the switches on her face. Wanting to switch her into a different sleeping position, Mo Yichen shifted her, while Xiang Yi grumbled in her sleep.

Inside her heart, that tightly wound knot she couldn't get rid of had begun to loosen.

Afraid of waking her up, Mo Yichen didn't try moving her again. All she did was then take the coat resting on the chair Xiang Yi was sleeping on and drape it over her back.

Taking off the earphones, Chengcheng then looked at Mo Yichen and said, "In these recordings, the 'Chenchen' Xiang Yi is referring to can't be me.After we broke up, even though her and I were still in contact, we were never anything but ordinary friends. Plus, her and I had never gone to any theme park together, so in these recordings should be ones she had made for you."

In the studio, Mo Yichen pulled out the chair beside Xiang Yi and took a seat. Silently, she thought deeply about their relationship along with their future.

And Mo Yichen sat in that chair in a trance. She had thought, she had believed, that even if there was no way for them to change the past, they could decide on their own future. They could live a long life together, and Xiang Yi could make as many recordings as she wishes.

As she sat there, she noticed sound waves fluttering across the screen before them. Xiang Yi must've forgotten to turn the monitor off before she ad fallen asleep. From time to time, Mo Yichen would listen to the dramas dubbed by Xiang Yi. Although Xiang Yi was not fond of school classes, when it came to her online drama dubbing she did not play around and had even garnered herself a small group of fans.

After Chengceng left the park, Mo Yichen had remained sitting on the same park bench for a long time to come.

When that coming semester had ended, Mo Yichen had gotten her results. There were ten places for the exchange program, and she had placed fourth. It did mean she was able to go study in the US, but only the top three places would get access to state sponsorship.

...

Right then, Xiang Yi's phone screen flashed, she had received a message. "SisT/n: Orig. was the term dàdà (大大) which is a way to call a friend, or show admiration and respect to someone. In this context anyway., I received the dry recordingT/n: the original audio before any post processing is done.. You've worked hard, sis."

However, the her from back then would never imagine that instead, there would come a day she would be taking those recording with her to go find a girl named ChengchengT/n: Chengcheng sounds like Chenchen. This Chengcheng was Xiang Yi's girlfriend before she had transferred to Nancheng High. She was also the first girl that Xiang Yi had ever dated.

Mo Yichen had only only glanced at the screen, having no intention of picking up the phone. Even though she and Xiang Yi were lovers, there was a huge distance left between the two of them. So, even now, she would still never, not even once, move to check Xiang Yi's phone.

Mo Yichen thought Xiang Yi would be the one unable to bear it all initially. She had a much wider social circle than her own, after all. On top of that, her family background and popularity was also much better than hers as well. In short, Xiang Yi had a lot more options to chose from, she did not have to stay.

Investigating would also do nothing to stop a person with the desire to betray.

But when Mo Yichen picked up the headphones, she never expected what she herd would be the following:

After Chengceng left the park, Mo Yichen had remained sitting on the same park bench for a long time to come.

Mo Yichen then thought, Isn't this proof of the painstakingly sincere love Xiang Yi felt towards me?

But in the past six months, Mo Yichen believed there was no other person next to Xiang Yi.

A week later, Xiang Yi ad submitted her application to enter the exchange program to the US. It was truly a very good opportunity for her, as in the same four year span, it was possible for her to earn two bachelor degrees, and the school she was applying to was also one that was renowned in the states.

Xiang Yi... you're not here anymore, and I can't even be certain if you had ever truly loved me.

Afraid of waking her up, Mo Yichen didn't try moving her again. All she did was then take the coat resting on the chair Xiang Yi was sleeping on and drape it over her back.

They had never put all their cards on the table and had a proper talk, seeming to have both lacked the wisdom required when dealing with someone they loved. They were like two knights in a duel, both knowing they'd suffer the same fate if they continued to battle, but at the same time, neither was willing to retreat. Yet every night Xiang Yi would persist in sending Mo Yichen a message, either telling her all about her day and what happened around her, or just random things of no importance.

Mo Yichen actually quite enjoyed watching how Xiang Yi would goof around with others on YY (it's like Twitch). This was the Xiang Yi she had always yearned for, as bright as sunshine, and spilling over with life.

Obviously, when it came to making conversation, Xiang Yi was quite skilled. But, like this, she had stubbornly and silently carved her place at Mo Yichen's side. Never letting Mo Yichen forget she was still a part of her world, neither allowing Mo Yichen the energy to go pursue a new love.

Afterwards, the two sat on the park bench together. The sunlight poured down softly from above them, and it painted such a beautiful scene, but to Mo Yichen, the entire experience had only felt as though she was awaiting her final judgement from a jury.

Hesitating for moment, Xiang Yi then stated, "Okay, then. We won't go."

Afraid of waking her up, Mo Yichen didn't try moving her again. All she did was then take the coat resting on the chair Xiang Yi was sleeping on and drape it over her back.

'Chenchen, Today I went to the amusement part we used to go to together. They've put up some new games, the tickets are much cheaper, and there are a lot more people here, so no matter where you go you have to stand in super long lines. Remember the first time we came here together? We hadn't known each other long so I couldn't really tell if you were happy or not from your expression. Just seeing those brows of yours wrinkle was enough to fill me with dread. I was scared you didn't like it there. every minute that ticked by gave me anxiety, but because you were by my side, I was still really happy. Chenchen, it really doesn't matter if you're happy, or distressed, to me, you're the prettiest of them all.'

If Xiang Yi really had no interest in going from the beginning, then why would she study English so hard, or take pat in all those extra clubs, or go through all the trouble of filling out those forms?

As she witness each one of these features on that girl approaching her, Mo Yichen felt as though he heart had constantly sunk until it reach the lowest depths of a chasm. That girl, and herself, were simply far too similar to one another in looks. If it were just looks alone, there would only be a seventy-five percent amount of similarity, but when temperament was tossed in the mix, Mo Yichen wouldn't be able to deny the idea that she was looking at her own self walking towards er from a distance.

But in the past six months, Mo Yichen believed there was no other person next to Xiang Yi.

It was rare for Mo Yichen to ever send these messages of Xiang a reply. But, every day, she still read every last one of them with great care. The thought of forgiving her, was one her heart refused to allow, yet when she heard no news from her, that same heart would ache with pain.

Chengcheng had already spent over an hour listening to them, and her expression seemed to be a mix of sorrow and joy. Mo Yichen didn't want to turn her head away, but she also didn't want to look at the girl's face any longer, so she turned her attention to counting the number of light spots on the ground while se waited.

'Chenchen... please don't push me away. I realised it now... I've realised I love you more than I had ever imagined. I love you, I love you so much that even if you leave me tomorrow, I will never love another soul for the rest of my days. But this realisation of mine, did I realise it too late?'

MoYichen didn't have it in her to say her relationship with Xiang Yi was going through a rough patch, so all she said was that the two of them were both girls and a couple should support another, instead of one leaching off the other. Mo Yichen had desired to maintain the equality in the foundation of their relationship, and didn;t want the feeling between them deteriorate even further.

Mo Yichen thought Xiang Yi would be the one unable to bear it all initially. She had a much wider social circle than her own, after all. On top of that, her family background and popularity was also much better than hers as well. In short, Xiang Yi had a lot more options to chose from, she did not have to stay.

'Chenchen, I miss you so much. Today, I went out to buy to that matcha you like so much to give to you, and I also bought myself a cup to taste this flavour you like so much. But after looking all over the school, I couldn't find you anywhere. I called you, but you never picked up either. You... you're really difficult to coax. But I can't be too pushy either, because I'm scared you'll completely ignore me then. All I could do in the end was drink those two huge cups by myself, but drinking cold matcha isn't good at all. It was good thing you never answered my calls. I drank too much today, so I couldn't eat anythng for the whole day either.'

That day, Mo Yichen spent the entire afternoon sitting in her dorm room. And she remained that way until later that evening when Xiang Yi brought her dinner, resulting in the two sharing flaky pancakesT/n: parathas.. After she found out Mo Yichen's grades, Xiang Yi was neither particularly happy about the news, or regretful. All she did was ask, "Do you still plan on going abroad to study?"

They seemed to have entered into an endless loop, turning and and turning only to end right back at the place they had began.

But Xiang Yi's mother had taking the initiative to tell Mo Yichen herself, "You should go there first and Xiang Yi will come meet you afterwards. It'll turn out the same either how. Since Xiang Yi is my only daughter, all the money I prepared was all going to be given to her. Otherwise , I can just act like a good old auntie and just do a bunch of good deeds. So how about I let you borrow the money you need, without interest, and you can sign a pledge if you'd like to say you'd pay this auntie back in the future?"

At the same time, Xiang Yi had applied as an undergraduate student at a school in the same city as Mo Yichen. Xiang Yi's mother hoped that they would go there together so thy could look out for one another as well.

Maybe what that girl said is the truth, but... Xiang Yi had never called me "Chenchen", she had always called me "Yichen". Xiang Yi... who was it, who was the one you had thought about so dearly every day and night...?

Mo Yichen actually quite enjoyed watching how Xiang Yi would goof around with others on YY (it's like Twitch). This was the Xiang Yi she had always yearned for, as bright as sunshine, and spilling over with life.

Looking at that girl had made Mo Yichen hate the existence of mirrors in this world, and when that girl sent a soft smile her way, even the way her lips curved upwards, with her own, were the exact same. Mo Yichen couldn't stop her mind from lamenting of how much better it would've been if she had never found out what that girl looked like in that moment. Then she stood up from that park bench and introduced herself to Chengcheng.

But Xiang Yi's mother had taking the initiative to tell Mo Yichen herself, "You should go there first and Xiang Yi will come meet you afterwards. It'll turn out the same either how. iana: Chenchen and Chengcheng actually sound quite similar, so unless you're reading them *wink*, it can be unclear. Xiang Yi was using the Chen in Mo Yichen's last name for this nickname she never used for her in person, though. So, while Mo Yichen will be wondering for a lifetime (*depression*), we know who Xiang Yi was referring to...(*more depression for some reason*). Author is mean as hell for what she did to Xiang Yi's mother, though. The woman lost both her husband and the only child she gave birth to. Like, damn.[]This sad arc is done—so back to our girls we go!!!

Mo Yichen had arranged to meet Chengcheng at a small park near Nancheng High.

But when Mo Yichen picked up the headphones, she never expected what she herd would be the following:

She handed the mp3 player she filled with recordings Xiang Yi had made over to Chengcheng.

Mo Yichen had believed Xiang Yi did not receive an offer back then, and it was true that her grades fluctuated greatly. Even though Xiang Yi did make a lot of preparations, there were still a lot more people who had always been working their hardest, so it was understandable that they had come out on top instead.

It was a sunny afternoon, and Mo Yichen could spot the girl's long, flowing hair from a distance. Long, jet-black hair draped all the way down to the girl's waist; her brows were light and tapered like a delicate leaf from a willow; her eyes were big, clear and bright; her skin was fair and silky; and even the air around her felt as though it was filled with jasmine.

...

Mo Yichen then thought, Isn't this proof of the painstakingly sincere love Xiang Yi felt towards me?

Mo Yichen: "No. I don't."

She had fallen asleep on the mix table, which had left imprints of the switches on her face. Wanting to switch her into a different sleeping position, Mo Yichen shifted her, while Xiang Yi grumbled in her sleep.

iana: Chenchen and Chengcheng actually sound quite similar, so unless you're reading them *wink*, it can be unclear.

And Mo Yichen sat in that chair in a trance. She had thought, she had believed, that even if there was no way for them to change the past, they could decide on their own future. They could live a long life together, and Xiang Yi could make as many recordings as she wishes.

If Xiang Yi really had no interest in going from the beginning, then why would she study English so hard, or take pat in all those extra clubs, or go through all the trouble of filling out those forms?

Mo Yichen: "No. I don't."

After Chengceng left the park, Mo Yichen had remained sitting on the same park bench for a long time to come.

Back then, Mo Yichen believed the words Xiang Yi spoke on those recordings were all meant for here.

When that coming semester had ended, Mo Yichen had gotten her results. There were ten places for the exchange program, and she had placed fourth. It did mean she was able to go study in the US, but only the top three places would get access to state sponsorship.

A week later, Xiang Yi ad submitted her application to enter the exchange program to the US. It was truly a very good opportunity for her, as in the same four year span, it was possible for her to earn two bachelor degrees, and the school she was applying to was also one that was renowned in the states.

But in the past six months, Mo Yichen believed there was no other person next to Xiang Yi.

At the same time, Xiang Yi had applied as an undergraduate student at a school in the same city as Mo Yichen. Xiang Yi's mother hoped that they would go there together so thy could look out for one another as well.

After Chengceng left the park, Mo Yichen had remained sitting on the same park bench for a long time to come.

Mo Yichen had arranged to meet Chengcheng at a small park near Nancheng High.

But what she had never foresaw, was to one day find a offer a college had sent to Xiang Yi tucked away in one of her drawers.

Xiang Yi... you're not here anymore, and I can't even be certain if you had ever truly loved me.

Afterwards, the two sat on the park bench together. The sunlight poured down softly from above them, and it painted such a beautiful scene, but to Mo Yichen, the entire experience had only felt as though she was awaiting her final judgement from a jury.

Mo Yichen actually quite enjoyed watching how Xiang Yi would goof around with others on YY (it's like Twitch). This was the Xiang Yi she had always yearned for, as bright as sunshine, and spilling over with life.

She didn't even entertain the idea of taking home the notification package for parents back home for them to see, because there no reality in which they would help her.

Mo Yichen had believed Xiang Yi did not receive an offer back then, and it was true that her grades fluctuated greatly. Even though Xiang Yi did make a lot of preparations, there were still a lot more people who had always been working their hardest, so it was understandable that they had come out on top instead.

Xiang Yi... you're not here anymore, and I can't even be certain if you had ever truly loved me.

The recordings played at random...

If she wanted to go, why wouldn't she not tell me? Why had she given up?

From time to time, that wound in her heart might accidentality get poked at, and it might even ache lightly, but Mo Yichen believed even that would be healed completely one day.

That day, Mo Yichen spent the entire afternoon sitting in her dorm room. After she found out Mo Yichen's grades, Xiang Yi was neither particularly happy about the news, or regretful. All she did was ask, "Do you still plan on going abroad to study?"

'Today, I met this girl named Chenchen. The first time out eyes met one another's, in that very instant, I just knew it—I knew there was a spark. If she was willing to be with me, I swore in that moment I'd record every last bit of our time together, then when her twentieth birthday arrives, I would give all those recordings to her. Then, I'd confess to her that I want us to go somewhere we could legally get married, and for us to spend the rest of our lives together.'

And Mo Yichen sat in that chair in a trance. She had thought, she had believed, that even if there was no way for them to change the past, they could decide on their own future. They could live a long life together, and Xiang Yi could make as many recordings as she wishes.

Hesitating for moment, Xiang Yi then stated, "Okay, then. We won't go."

...

They seemed to have entered into an endless loop, turning and and turning only to end right back at the place they had began.

It was rare for Mo Yichen to ever send these messages of Xiang a reply. But, every day, she still read every last one of them with great care. The thought of forgiving her, was one her heart refused to allow, yet when she heard no news from her, that same heart would ache with pain.

As she sat there, she noticed sound waves fluttering across the screen before them. Xiang Yi must've forgotten to turn the monitor off before she ad fallen asleep.

But when Mo Yichen picked up the headphones, she never expected what she herd would be the following:

But Xiang Yi's mother had taking the initiative to tell Mo Yichen herself, "You should go there first and Xiang Yi will come meet you afterwards. It'll turn out the same either how. Since Xiang Yi is my only daughter, all the money I prepared was all going to be given to her. Otherwise , I can just act like a good old auntie and just do a bunch of good deeds. So how about I let you borrow the money you need, without interest, and you can sign a pledge if you'd like to say you'd pay this auntie back in the future?"

Maybe what that girl said is the truth, but... Xiang Yi had never called me "Chenchen", she had always called me "Yichen". Xiang Yi... who was it, who was the one you had thought about so dearly every day and night...?

At the same time, Xiang Yi had applied as an undergraduate student at a school in the same city as Mo Yichen. Xiang Yi's mother hoped that they would go there together so thy could look out for one another as well.

Afraid of waking her up, Mo Yichen didn't try moving her again. All she did was then take the coat resting on the chair Xiang Yi was sleeping on and drape it over her back.

But what she had never foresaw, was to one day find a offer a college had sent to Xiang Yi tucked away in one of her drawers.

Right then, Xiang Yi's phone screen flashed, she had received a message. "SisT/n: Orig. was the term dàdà (大大) which is a way to call a friend, or show admiration and respect to someone. If Xiang Yi really had no interest in going from the beginning, then why would she study English so hard, or take pat in all those extra clubs, or go through all the trouble of filling out those forms?

She handed the mp3 player she filled with recordings Xiang Yi had made over to Chengcheng.

When that coming semester had ended, Mo Yichen had gotten her results. There were ten places for the exchange program, and she had placed fourth. It did mean she was able to go study in the US, but only the top three places would get access to state sponsorship.

Inside her heart, that tightly wound knot she couldn't get rid of had begun to loosen.

Mo Yichen had only only glanced at the screen, having no intention of picking up the phone. Even though she and Xiang Yi were lovers, there was a huge distance left between the two of them. So, even now, she would still never, not even once, move to check Xiang Yi's phone.

'Chenchen... please don't push me away. I realised it now... I've realised I love you more than I had ever imagined. I love you, I love you so much that even if you leave me tomorrow, I will never love another soul for the rest of my days. But this realisation of mine, did I realise it too late?'

Mo Yichen had found Xiang Yi at the recording studio.

Investigating would also do nothing to stop a person with the desire to betray.

Right then, Xiang Yi's phone screen flashed, she had received a message. "SisT/n: Orig. was the term dàdà (大大) which is a way to call a friend, or show admiration and respect to someone. 'I'm scared, I'm scared to lose someone suddenly like my father... like her. I don't want to give my heart to someone again, but I also met another girl. She was so innocent, so carefree... she had the kind smooth easy life I had never so much as dreamed of... I was jealous of her. I never meant to hide it from you, Chenchen. I just couldn't figure out a way to tell you, and odds are, I will never give the recording to you for you to hear. Honestly, in this entire world, I don't think anything everlasting and unchanging even exists. My father and mother shared such a beautiful love between them, yet that love theirs still had an abrupt ending. Is there anyone out there that can really stay by someone's side for a life time? Aren't we all just inevitably passers-by in each others livesiana: Oh, my sweet, broken child, that's a reason for, not against. 'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all~?'

But in the past six months, Mo Yichen believed there was no other person next to Xiang Yi.

Hesitating for moment, Xiang Yi then stated, "Okay, then. We won't go."

She handed the mp3 player she filled with recordings Xiang Yi had made over to Chengcheng.

Extra: Mo Yichen - Part 2

She didn't even entertain the idea of taking home the notification package for parents back home for them to see, because there no reality in which they would help her.

Hesitating for moment, Xiang Yi then stated, "Okay, then. We won't go."

Afterwards, the two sat on the park bench together. The sunlight poured down softly from above them, and it painted such a beautiful scene, but to Mo Yichen, the entire experience had only felt as though she was awaiting her final judgement from a jury.

Mo Yichen thought Xiang Yi would be the one unable to bear it all initially. She had a much wider social circle than her own, after all. On top of that, her family background and popularity was also much better than hers as well. In short, Xiang Yi had a lot more options to chose from, she did not have to stay.

'Chenchen... please don't push me away. I realised it now... I've realised I love you more than I had ever imagined. I love you, I love you so much that even if you leave me tomorrow, I will never love another soul for the rest of my days. But this realisation of mine, did I realise it too late?'

She had fallen asleep on the mix table, which had left imprints of the switches on her face. Wanting to switch her into a different sleeping position, Mo Yichen shifted her, while Xiang Yi grumbled in her sleep.

If she wanted to go, why wouldn't she not tell me? Why had she given up?

After Chengceng left the park, Mo Yichen had remained sitting on the same park bench for a long time to come.

She had fallen asleep on the mix table, which had left imprints of the switches on her face. Wanting to switch her into a different sleeping position, Mo Yichen shifted her, while Xiang Yi grumbled in her sleep.

The recordings played at random...

The recordings played at random...

Mo Yichen had believed Xiang Yi did not receive an offer back then, and it was true that her grades fluctuated greatly. Even though Xiang Yi did make a lot of preparations, there were still a lot more people who had always been working their hardest, so it was understandable that they had come out on top instead.

Mo Yichen: "No. I don't."

Maybe what that girl said is the truth, but... Xiang Yi had never called me "Chenchen", she had always called me "Yichen". Xiang Yi... who was it, who was the one you had thought about so dearly every day and night...?

Mo Yichen had arranged to meet Chengcheng at a small park near Nancheng High.

She handed the mp3 player she filled with recordings Xiang Yi had made over to Chengcheng.

Mo Yichen had only only glanced at the screen, having no intention of picking up the phone. Even though she and Xiang Yi were lovers, there was a huge distance left between the two of them. So, even now, she would still never, not even once, move to check Xiang Yi's phone.

Xiang Yi... you're not here anymore, and I can't even be certain if you had ever truly loved me.

Xiang Yi... you're not here anymore, and I can't even be certain if you had ever truly loved me.

Notes:

iana: Chenchen and Chengcheng actually sound quite similar, so unless you're reading them *wink*, it can be unclear. Like, damn.

This sad arc is done—so back to our girls we go!!! Shoo sadness, begone! T_T
